• Hello friends and clients of Leah Miller Photography! Welcome to my blog. Below you will see favorites from client sessions, and random tid bits of personal nonsense that will hopefully entertain you. If nothing else, you can keep up on my real job, which is spending time with my husband and our two cute kids in beautiful (and sometimes cold) Salt Lake City, UT. Pull up a chair and enjoy!

Yep, It’s Time

So, a couple of years ago I decided to learn how to use my camera so that I could take better pictures of my own kids. I fell in love with photography. I also jumped into taking pictures for other people and it quickly became a little bit of a business. It has been so wonderful and also super busy at times. Last November I did 12 family sessions in one month! A lot of times I find myself too tired to want to take pictures of my own kids. Ha!! Can anyone else relate with that? So, I’ve decided to take a little break. I won’t be scheduling any sessions anytime in the near future. For any of you who have already booked a session/wedding with me for this year (or prepaid for a session), I’m planning on doing those!!!

I hope to turn this blog into a photography journal where I can share tips, things I’ve learned, and of course all the photography projects that may come my way (including those of my kids). Hopefully in the next day or two I’ll post a tutorial on how to make a professional printed family album (large coffee table book style).

xoxo, Leah

Max 6 months old + Recipe

Our little guy Max. We finally found out that his crazy breathing problem (need for supplemental O2 + monitor) is actually a severe case of apnea. He’ll probably grow out of it when he is one year old. 6 more months to go…the little stinker.

Should I laugh or should I cry?

I thought I would include the “recipe” that I used for these photos.

Used stamp tool in Photoshop to fix blemishes, etc
Used TRA’s “Pro retouch” @ 50% to smooth skin and pop eyes
Josh De Rox’s “Morning” @ 40%
Josh De Rox’s “Memory of a Friend” @ 10%
Josh De Rox’s “Blueberry Night” @ 10%
TRA2′s “Sharp Like a Ninja” @ 60%

Cake Boutique: Employee Shoot

| F A S H I O N | Meet the lovely employees of Cake Boutique. If you’re from Utah and you haven’t been up to Cake in Park City, YOU MUST!!! It is my favorite store of all time. Cake has two locations now… one in Redstone shopping area and one on Main Street. Anywho…I think it was 20 degrees and FREEZZING outside when we took these pictures. If you could see me behind the camera you’d know because I was wearing a huge coat, gloves, Uggs boots, etc.

I went back and bought these jeans…

They all look pretty cold here…

My Family Pictures

| Y E L L O W – S K I N N Y | I talk about Becky and Dan all the time because really they are my favorite photographers. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to take over Dan’s job and follow Becky around as her 2nd photographer. Maybe one day.:-)Anyway, I love these guys more than anything!! Seriously. We were so excited when Becky and Dan told us they were coming to Utah. We made them stay at our house and convinced them to take our family pictures again.

Go to the Yellow Skinny Website and check out the pictures, become a fan of Becky’s on facebook, get her info so you can call and offer to fly her out to do your pictures, etc.

Here is one of my favorites…

Max – 2 months

| M A X – O | Here is my little Max on the day of his church blessing. He was two months old. Yep, he has the super sticky oxygen stickers on his face…he still needs oxygen when he sleeps. I was tempted the take them off for the picture, but I decided that was too mean.
